BASEBALL: Wilder swept by Northwest Blaze

BELFAIR — Wilder Baseball dropped its first two games of the season in a doubleheader sweep by Northwest Blaze 18U at North Mason High School.

The Blaze took Sunday’s first game 9-4 and won the second 8-5.

Tanner Rhodefer and Ryan Rodocker were each roughed up for seven in their starts

for Wilder.

None of Rhodefer’s runs were earned, though, as Wilder committed four errors in the opener

The Blaze tallied 11 hits in the first game, seven against Rhodefer in 3 2/3 innings and four on reliever Janson Pederson in two innings.

Wilder finished with seven hits, one apiece by Curan Bradley, Matt Hendry, Tanner Gochnour, Eathen Boyer, James Grubb and Anders Chapman.

Boyer also drove in two runs, Bradley scored two and Gochnour stole three bases.

In the second game, Rodocker allowed 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings on the mound.

The Blaze out-hit Wilder 12 to five.

Hendry had two of Wilder’s hits, including a double. Gochnour and Boyer also doubled.

Wider (3-2) will play an intrasquad game Wednesday at Civic Field before traveling to Issaquah for a doubleheader against Lakeside Recovery’s 18U Senior Babe Ruth team (7-8) on Sunday.
