ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Trey Baysinger, Forks basketball

Forks’ Trey Baysinger has been a scoring machine all year for the Forks Spartans. Baysinger scored 29 points in a game last week against Hoquiam and 24 points in a win over Elma.

It was his second 29-point game this season — his first also came against Hoquiam in January. He also scored 24 points in another game against Elma in January. Baysinger has also had games of 16, 16 and 18 this season.

Thanks to his scoring prowess, Baysinger was named the Evergreen 1A League Most Valuable Player this week, along with his teammate Tony Hernandez-Flores. Congratulations to both Baysinger and Hernandez-Flores, who have some basketball left for the Spartans this season as Forks prepares for the district playoffs.
