ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Lalia Greene, Neah Bay basketball

Neah Bay’s Lalia Green had an outstanding Class 1B State Tournament for the Red Devils, helping to lead her team to a fifth-place finish at state, its highest finish ever.

Greene started at the tournament leading the team with 16 points in a win against Mount Vernon Christian, then in the Red Devils’ final game against Sunnyside Christian, she scored 15.

The good news for Neah Bay is that Greene is just a freshman and along with six other freshmen who played varsity will be coming back next year for the Red Devils.

Athlete of the Week is brought to you by the sports department at the Peninsula Daily News along with the sponsorship of Swain’s General Store serving Clallam and Jefferson counties since 1957.
