Bishop Budnek

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Bishop Budnek, Quilcene football

Quilcene senior Bishop Budnek ran for 196 yards on 26 carries and scored four touchdowns and two 2-point conversions in his return to the gridiron after a broken wrist and two subsequent surgeries kept him out for the Rangers’ first five games.

Budnek, playing with a big cast over one hand, had TD runs of 16, 1, 1 and 5 yards.

Budnek, also a defensive leader for Quilcene, had seven tackles in the Rangers’ 41-16 win over Neah Bay to improve their record to 5-1.

Budnek significantly strengthens Quilcene on both sides of the ball as the Rangers prepare for another run in the 1B playoffs.
