AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Forks FC wins fifth Peninsula Soccer League title

PORT ANGELES — Forks FC captured its fifth-straight Peninsula Soccer League championship Sunday with a decisive 7-1 win over High Energy Metals.

The coed adult soccer teams will return to the pitch at Wally Sigmar Field in the Peninsula College spring league.

Peninsula College gives thanks to the Pirates men’s team for officiating every Sunday.

WCL schedule out

VANCOUVER — The West Coast League released its schedule Tuesday with 27 league games scheduled for the Port Angeles Lefties at Civic Field, including games over the Fourth of July weekend.

The WCL All-Star game also returns after a hiatus that began during the COVID-19 pandemic. The game will be played July 17 and a location has not been announced yet.

The Lefties begin home play with a three-game series against the Wenatchee AppleSox from June 4-6. They take a long road trip, then return for their longest homestand of the season June 18-23 against Ridgefield and Kelowna.

The Lefties will play Nanaimo July 3 and 4, then have a home three-game series against Bellingham July 5-7. They host July 12 to July 15. The Lefties also have a homestand against Victoria July 22-24 and against Edmonton (Aug. 2-4) before they wrap up their regular season against Cowlitz (Aug. 6-8).

There will be three rounds of postseason play beginning on Aug. 10.
