Where to enjoy community Thanksgiving dinners today

Communities across the North Olympic Peninsula are having free public Thanksgiving dinners today.

Here is the list of today’s community feasts.

Port Angeles

•âÇAll are welcome at Serenity House’s traditional community Thanksgiving dinner at the Single Adult Shelter, 2321 W. 18th St., from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

•âÇWhat organizers hope will be an inaugural Thanksgiving Day feast is planned from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Queen of Angels gymnasium, 209 W. 11th St.

The free dinner is for anyone who doesn’t have a place to go for Thanksgiving, said Eileen Knight, who organized the event with Tammy Gallagher and Reath Ellefson.

The dinner is not sponsored by the church, and is supported by donations, Knight said.

•âÇOlympic Vineyard Christian Fellowship offers the public a free Thanksgiving meal at the church at 3415 S. Peabody St., at 3 p.m.

Sequim

A complimentary Thanksgiving Day dinner for veterans, their families, widows and widowers is also open to the general public.

Reservations are requested for the dinner, which will be from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 169 E. Washington St.

To make a reservation, or for more information, phone 360-683-9546, leaving the names of people who plan to attend the dinner on the phone’s answering machine.

Forks

Feeding the Five Thousand, which operates under the umbrella of the Forks Betterment Association, is offering a free, public feast from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The dinner will be in the basement of the Forks Church of the Nazarene, 170 Dickey Lane, with a dining area upstairs from the basement for those who have difficulty using stairs.

Clallam Bay-Sekiu

A free Thanksgiving feast for Clallam Bay and Sekiu residents is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Sekiu Community Center.

Seniors who need rides should phone dinner Kathleen Haney at 360-640-0586 or Patty Cook at 360-963-2668.

Feasts are also being served in neighboring Jefferson County.

Jefferson County

•âÇA free, Tri-Area community Thanksgiving dinner will be served at the Tri-Area Community Center, 10 West Valley Road, Chimacum from noon to 3 p.m.

•âÇA combination peace vigil and potluck picnic is planned at Lloyd Goode Park on Indian Island from noon to 2 p.m.

Members of the public are asked to bring food and drink to share, but no signs.

•âÇA free community dinner will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Brinnon Community Center, 306144 U.S. Highway 101.

Turkey, dressing, gravy and mashed potatoes will be provided. Participants are asked to bring side dishes.
