Rainforest Run
FORKS — The sixth annual Rainforest Run offers motorcycle rides and entertainment today through Sunday.
Motorcyclists can camp for free at Cycle Camp, 1071 Mora Road, where all events are planned.
Organizers say everyone is invited to enjoy the entertainment.
Registration opens at 10 a.m. today.
At 6 p.m. today, the Soul Ducks will perform, with Twice Baked at 9 p.m.
On Saturday, registration will open at 9 am., followed by a Poker Run at 10 a.m., with awards presented at 5 p.m.
Linda Waterfall will perform at 6 p.m. and Indubious at 8 p.m.
The Miss Rainforest Run Contest will be at 10 p.m.
On Sunday, the shirt and pin booth will open at 9 a.m.
Riders will meet at noon by the train in Tillicum Park for the Hoh Rain Forest Fun Run.

FORKS — The Washington Dental Service Foundation SmileMobile will continue to offer services today and Monday.
The mobile unit, which travels the state offering dental services to children who might not otherwise have access to dental care, will be at the Bogachiel Medical Clinic, 390 Founders Way.
Hours began Thursday. Today, hours are from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Monday hours are from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Kids’ salmon derby
SEKIU — The Clallam Bay-Sekiu Lions Club will host its annual Kids Salmon Derby beginning at 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

Street ride
PORT ANGELES — The third annual “No Reason . . . Just Ride,” featuring street stunt riders Jason Britton and Eric Hoenshell, will be at Port Angeles Power Equipment, 2624 E. U.S. Highway 101, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Registration will be at 9 a.m. and costs $20, which includes a T-shirt and donation to American Legion Riders.
This event benefits American Legion Riders Post 29 in Port Angeles.

Outdoor Club hike
PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Outdoor Club will hike the Happy Lake Trail on Saturday and the Grand Valley Trail on Sunday.
Saturday’s hike is moderately difficult. It is 10 miles round trip, with an elevation gain of 3,900 feet and a high point of 5,280 feet.
Sunday’s hike also is considered moderately difficult. It is 9.8 miles round trip, with an elevation gain of 2,400 feet and a high point of 6,450 feet.

PORT ANGELES — The Sons of Norway group will host its weekly Norwegian dance at 131 W. Fifth St. from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

‘Harvey’ auditions
SEQUIM — Olympic Theatre Arts will hold auditions for “Harvey” in the Gathering Hall of the center, 414 N. Sequim Ave., at 3 p.m. Saturday.
“Harvey” is a comedy that centers around an affable man who has an imaginary companion: a 6-foot-tall rabbit named Harvey.
The play calls for five women and six men ranging in age from 15 to 65.
Director Olivia Shea said auditions are open to all. She has asked that those who would like to be part of the production team also come to the auditions.
“Harvey” is the second main stage production of Olympic Theatre Arts’ 2014-15 season and will open Nov. 7. The comedy will be performed during three weekends, closing Nov. 23.
Scripts for “Harvey” auditions are available at the center’s office. A copy of the play also will be on reserve at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.

The class, led by instructor Julia Buggy, features alignment cues, core work and moving with breath, followed by a deep relaxation.

PORT TOWNSEND — Author David J. Langum Sr. will sign his new book, Quite Contrary: The Litigious Life of Mary Bennett Love, at the Writers’ Workshoppe/Imprint bookstore, 820 Water St., at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Langum, a regular spring and summer resident of Port Townsend, has written eight books in history and biography and has received several book awards and prizes for his writing.
Mary Bennett arrived in California in 1843 and separated from her husband in Yerba Buena (San Francisco) in 1845.
She acquired a Mexican land grant in Santa Clara by forging her son’s name on the naturalization and land grant petitions. Later she gained more land by simply squatting on public lands and became well-off.
Langum asserts that the key to her success was that she was willing to be contrary and ignore the conventional role of domesticity.
