PORT ANGELES — The State Patrol on Friday revised its account of a two-car wreck on U.S. Highway 101 at Mount Pleasant Road that sent a Port Angeles woman to the hospital on Wednesday.
Charlene C. Troemel, 77, was unhurt after she ran a red light at the intersection of Mount Pleasant Road and Highway 101, the State Patrol said.
Troemel was waiting at a red light in the left-turn lane of Mount Pleasant Road when she proceeded through the light into the intersection at about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, the State Patrol said.
Her 2010 Hyundai Elantra struck the 2000 black Ford Taurus of Robyn L. Macomber, 24, of Port Angeles, who was travelling west on Highway 101 at Mount Pleasant Road, the State Patrol said.
Macomber was injured in the wreck and taken by ambulance to Olympic Medical Center, the State Patrol said.
She had been treated and released by Thursday, according to a hospital spokesperson.
The State Patrol had initially reported Macomber had run the red light.
“It was our malfunction, I don’t know what happened,” Trooper Russ Winger, State Patrol spokesman, said Friday.
The State Patrol said Troemel is expected to be cited for failing to obey a traffic control device.
