PORT ANGELES — Multi-genre artist Michael Mills and author Kristy Webster, both explorers of the magic-realism style, will offer readings during the North Coast Writers gathering at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., tonight.

Admission is free to the 7 p.m. reading, which will take place in the library’s Raymond Carver Room.

Mills, who teaches English and art at Peninsula College in Port Angeles, is the faculty adviser for the college’s Tidepools art and literature magazine.

He’s also a rock bass player, short-story writer and playwright.

Four of his works, including “Freak Like Me: The Musical,” were presented at Peninsula College in 2012, and this past weekend, his play “Yukon Miracle 1897” was part of the Find Your Voice Play Festival on campus.

Mills’ short story Violin Dominicana has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and his creative non-fiction, short stories and poetry have appeared in journals such as Palabra, Qwerty and Blood Orange Review.

Webster, a Port Townsend resident, will read from her two self-published books: the novella Coco and Dream Dogs, a story collection.

An alumna of both Evergreen State College and Pacific Lutheran University’s master of fine arts program, she facilitates a weekly creative writing exercise workshop in Port Townsend.

She has published online in journals such as Pacifica Literary Review, Stone Hobo, Sirens and The Feminist Wire, and has had her work featured in two anthologies, Woman’s Work and Just Like a Girl.
