Teen photo contest open for submissions

PORT HADLOCK — The Jefferson County Library is accepting submissions for Teen Photo Show 2024 from May 5 through 5 p.m. May 19.

Teens, ages 11 through 18, may submit one or two images with the theme “Picture a Reader.”

This year’s theme is a repeat of the 1991 theme, which was won by Seth Raymond, a 15-year-old, at the time, for his picture of 4-year-old Lydia Raymond and her mother, Kathleen, reading a book.

Photographs may be submitted online at www.jclibrary.info/teenphoto show, to the bookmobile or at the library, 620 Cedar Ave.

Photos will be judged for composition, innovation and sense of story, with the winner of each category receiving a $50 gift card.

A fourth gift card will be awarded to the “People’s Choice” selected by online voting from May 21-27.

Winners will be announced during a reception at 4:45 p.m. May 30; all contestants will receive feedback on their photographs from the judges.

This year’s judges are Melissa Jentzsch of MJ Photography; Russ Stamp of Russ Stamp Photography; Deja Webster of Deja View Photography; and Rick York of the Port Townsend School of Arts.

For more information, call the library at 360-385-6544 or visit www.jclibrary.info.
