PORT ANGELES — A structure fire resulted in total loss of a garage and workshop, Clallam County Fire District 2 reported.
Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in a detached four-car garage and workshop near state Highway 112 and Place Road about 11 a.m. Friday.
The first chief officer on scene reported smoke and flames coming out of the front of the building and through the roof. After confirming no one was in the garage, a defensive strategy was initiated. An exterior fire attack was initiated.
Automatic support from the Port Angeles Fire Department (PAFD) and Clallam County Fire District 3 (CCFD3) were provided and, as additional crews arrived, additional lines were pulled to extinguish the fire and protect the home from heat exposure.
The fire was knocked down 20 to 30 minutes after the first engine arrived. Crews remained on scene for about two more hours to overhaul the fire, due to the presence of a Tesla and a large quantity of various lithium-ion batteries inside the structure.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
