SHINE — Overnight closures of the Hood Canal bridge on state Highway 104 that had been rescheduled for June 10-14 have been postponed.
Under the current schedule, the bridge will close from 10 p.m. through 5 a.m. nightly from Monday, June 17, through the morning of Saturday, June 22, and from Monday, June 24, through Friday, June 28.
The seven-hour closures are to allow work crews to replace worn shock absorbers on the bridge, but that work is dependent upon the completion of work on the center locks, which is ongoing and does not require nighttime closures, according to a WSDOT press release.
Due to the nature of the work, the bridge will not open for any traffic, including emergency vehicles, during the overnight closures.
The overnight work is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled.
