PORT ANGELES — Olympic National Park restoration biologist Joshua Chenoweth will discuss the Elwha Revegetation Project at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The talk will be at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
Last year, more than 30,000 seedlings were planted in the newly uncovered sediments of the old reservoirs.
More than 400,000 additional seedlings will be planted over the next six years, helping along the process of natural revegetation and bringing new life to a barren landscape.
Chenoweth will discuss the planning behind the project and successes and challenges to date.
The program is part of the North Olympic Library’s “River Story” program series and the fourth of five programs presented by subject experts from Olympic National Park.
Olympic National Park scientific research coordinator Jerry Freilich will focus on scientific research being conducted as part of the Elwha Restoration project at the final “River Story” restoration series event Wednesday, Aug. 22.
“River Story,” a multifaceted visual exhibit accompanied by an extensive schedule of programs and events continues through Sept. 8 at the Port Angeles Library.
