FORKS — Road crews from Olympic National Park will begin prescribed burns of woody debris piles on Monday.
The burns will take place at the park’s Sol Duc, Elwha, Hoh, Mora and Quinault maintenance areas.
The debris results from road clearing operations within the park.
All the burn sites have had cool, cloudy weather with significant precipitation which lessens the risk of a fire escaping.
Smoke may be visible on nearby roads and trails during the burns, but no area closures have been announced.
