Port Townsend: Filming for “The Ring” begins today

Filming of stock footage for the major motion picture “The Ring”‘ begins today at Fort Worden State Park.

The Dreamworks SKG project still hasn’t signed a lead actor, Port Townsend Marketing Director Nancy Borino said. Production crews have dropped names of actors being approached for the role including Gwyneth Paltrow and Penelope Cruz.

But Paltrow has apparently decided not to accept the role, Borino said.

Other filming has been postponed until the first two weeks in December when many of the people who applied to be extras will be called to participate.

Company officials in the Seattle production office could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
