Port Angeles to host storefront studio sessions next week

PORT ANGELES — The city of Port Angeles will conduct a series of planning sessions during the upcoming week.

Sessions are scheduled at a storefront studio located at 230 E. First St. in Port Angeles on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The sessions are designed to identify the community’s vision and develop strategies to update the city’s 20-year comprehensive plan.

Sessions will focus on housing accessibility and equity, economic development, future land use practices, utility development, park and recreation access, neighborhood services, environmental protection, climate resiliency and transportation access.

Residents are encouraged to drop in throughout the day to explore interactive displays, engage in informal discussion with city staff and provide input.

A workshop is scheduled for each evening to explore key topics more deeply.

Monday will focus on vision and development scenarios with studio hours from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and a focused conversation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Tuesday will focus on the challenges of today and how policies shape the way we respond.

Studio hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a focused discussion from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Wednesday is dedicated to reviewing and refining the discussions from Monday and Tuesday during studio hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the focused discussion from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The planning studio will culminate with an onsite meeting of the city’s Planning Commission from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
