PORT ANGELES — The robbery and assault of a 34-year-old man early Friday morning in Port Angeles resulted in the arrest of seven people by the end of the day, with more arrests possibly on the way.
Officers responded to the 100 block of South Vine Street at 3 a.m., according to a statement from the Port Angeles Police Department.
The victim told police he met three men downtown who attacked him and stole his wallet, which contained about $150.
The victim was taken to Olympic Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
He later told officers that the men had pistol-whipped him during the attack.
A loaded .22 caliber cartridge was found at the scene of the attack and a .22 caliber handgun was later recovered while arresting the suspects.
Officers arrested two of the suspects — Michael E. Stuber, 22, and Donald E. Warner, 20 — in one of the men’s vehicles, said Port Angeles police Sgt. Tyler Peninger.
Peninger said he was not sure which suspect owned the vehicle.
The handgun also was found in the car, he said, although police are not sure who it belongs to.
The third suspect, Robert E. Johnson, 20, was found at the apartment of a Port Angeles woman.
All three men are from Port Angeles and were booked into the Clallam County jail for investigation of first-degree robbery and second-degree assault.
While arresting Johnson, officers arrested four other people, all Port Angeles residents, at the apartment on separate charges, and took a 10-year-old female into protective custody.
Victoria K. Guthrie, 36, lease holder of the apartment, and Martin R. Terry, 45, were both booked for possession of methamphetamine, said Peninger.
Neile L. Simpson, 42, was arrested on a warrant for failing to obey a court order issued by Clallam County Superior Court, and Sean L. Washburn, 24, was arrested on a state Department of Corrections warrant for escape.
More arrests are likely to occur based on evidence that was recovered during the investigation of the initial crime, said Port Angeles police Cpl. Kevin Miller.
