PORT ANGELES — The city of Port Angeles is looking for summer park hosts who can live and care for Erickson Playfield for a minimum of one month.
The program, in its second year, “offers individuals a unique opportunity to enhance the park experience for visitors, while enjoying all that Erickson Playfield and the surrounding area have to offer,” according to a press release.
As park host, the individual would help represent the community and provide a helpful presence at the park.
That includes answering visitor questions, distributing facility information, replenishing restroom supplies and ensuring cleanliness, performing minor tasks to enhance the tidiness of the park, report activities that require city attention and lock up the restrooms every night.
Park hosts are not expected to enforce park and facility rules.
Erickson Playfield is a 4.2-acre wooded park with tennis courts, a state park, a calisthenics park, restrooms, the Dream Playground and a covered picnic shelter.
It is located at 302 S. Race St. and is open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Requirements
Park hosts will have access to a 40-foot by 14-foot gravel pad with full hookups and free Wi-Fi.
They must be 18 or older and have a clean and attractive motor home, camper or travel trailer, according to the press release.
Opportunities to host are available from April to October, with a minimum commitment of one moth preferred.
Interested individuals can apply online at the city’s Park Host Program website or in person at the Parks and Recreation Department Office, 308 E. Fourth St.
Interested individuals who want to learn more can visit the city’s website or contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 360-417-4550 or parksandrecreation@cityofpa.us.
