PORT ANGELES — Fitness should be a lifetime endeavor.
Practicing what he preaches, 59-year-old Ron Snipe of Port Angeles went out and won eight swimming medals at the Washington state Senior Games in Olympia on Sunday. Snipe’s wife, Betsy, brought home two medals in track and field.
Ron Snipe, who taught health and social studies at Port Angeles High School last year, said he wanted to set an example for his students.
“I want the kids to know that you can be over 50 and still be active in life,” he said.
Ron Snipe noticed during his year teaching health that many students were out of shape and unhealthy.
“In general, kids need to get more exercise,” he said. “I take care of myself and don’t smoke or drink. I want my students to know that they can be healthy, too.”
