PORT ANGELES — The North Olympic Peninsula’s newest air carrier made a detour Tuesday to accommodate Vice President Dick Cheney’s fund-raising stop in Seattle.
Port Angeles-bound passengers flying San Juan Airlines from Seattle’s Boeing Field were diverted to Renton, south of Seattle, for departure while air space around Boeing was closed to unload armored vehicles from a government transport plane, according to a San Juan dispatcher.
Cheney was in Seattle on Tuesday for a $500-a-plate luncheon at a downtown hotel.
Five passengers heading to Port Angeles and three passengers bound for the San Juan Islands were bused to Renton Municipal Airport.
