PORT ANGELES — Mary and Terry Donovan aren’t just upset that somebody attacked their three black Labrador retrievers with pepper spray on Saturday night.
They are really upset that it happened while the dogs were fenced in their own yard.
“If you have a problem with my dogs, come and talk to me,” said an irate Terry Donovan.
“Don’t spray them and run away like a coward.”
The three dogs — Luke, Sadie and Max, the puppy — weren’t showing any ill effects Sunday, except for patches of the spray that remained on their fur.
But Terry said he had stomach cramps all Sunday morning.
Mary said she kept picking up greasy spray residue from the dogs and the furniture despite the previous night’s cleaning efforts.
The couple shampooed their living room carpet and couch Saturday night after the incident. They also left the doors open all night despite cool temperatures.
Mary said they have had to wash all their clothes, bedding and furniture covers.
Even the refrigerator was contaminated after one of the dogs brushed against it, she said.
“I don’t know if (the perpetrators) realize the whole impact of that spray,” Mary said.
