SEQUIM — An expanded program by the Olympic Peninsula Boys & Girls Club to boost teen participation at club facilities in Sequim and Port Angeles is gaining support, the new director said Tuesday.
“We have a teen program, but it’s not to the capacity that it could be,” said Cinnamon Falley, director of the Olympic Peninsula club, at the twice-monthly membership luncheon meeting of the Sequim-Dungeness Chamber of Commerce.
Falley started in the position in January and spoke at Tuesday’s John Wayne Marina event to introduce herself to the community.
The planned changes in offerings to teenagers have garnered a lot of support from community leaders, she said.
The idea in Sequim is to relocate the existing teen room — which has a computer, a television, lounge area, and pool and pingpong tables — to a room at the rear of the building that is connected to the snack bar and the gymnasium.
That way the rest of the building can be screened off while teenagers have access to the activities they want.
