NEWS BRIEFS: Dungeness Bridge closed for event … and other items

SEQUIM — Railroad Bridge at the Dungeness River Audubon Center will be closed to through traffic for the Dine on the Dungeness special event from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.

Dine on the Dungeness at the bridge in the park at 2151 Hendrickson Road, is sold out.

Forks man in wreck

HOQUIAM — A man from Forks was involved in a two-vehicle wreck that sent an Aberdeen man to the hospital.

Benjamin L. Matsche, 18, of Forks is facing a charge of second-degree negligent driving after driving into the back of a turning vehicle on U.S. Highway 101 on Wednesday morning, according to the State Patrol.

The wreck was reported at about 6 a.m. on Highway 101, 17 miles north of Hoquiam.

Rafael Alcala Osorio, 32, of Aberdeen was transported to a hospital to be treated for his injuries. The car he was driving was totally destroyed, the State Patrol said.
