QUILCENE — A Sequim man was airlifted to a Seattle hospital after his motorcycle went down on state Highway 104.
Cole Smithson, 20, was traveling eastbound on Highway 104 just east of U.S. Highway 101 about 5:54 p.m. Friday when he failed to negotiate a curve, lost control and left the roadway to the left, the State Patrol said.
Smithson was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was in satisfactory condition Monday afternoon, the Harborview nursing supervisor said.
The motorcycle came to rest in the median, the State Patrol said.
Smithson was wearing a helmet. No drugs or alcohol were involved, the State Patrol said.
The 2023 Kawasaki EX650 was totally destroyed. A friend removed it from the scene, the State Patrol said.
