TACOMA — A tribal jail inmate faces new charges after he bit and punched a federal officer during an escape attempt.
According to court records, Brandon Joseph Eaton was arrested by a Makah natural resource officer on a local warrant on July 15. While in jail, Neah Bay Police Officer Brandon Moss let Eaton out of his cell to make a phone call. On the way back, Eaton escaped and ran to the parking lot.
When Moss caught him in the street, Eaton bit Moss on the hand and punched him in the face and head.
After Eaton was subdued, Moss was treated by medics at the police station.
Eaton, a member of the Makah tribe, was charged in U.S. District Court in Tacoma on Thursday with assault of a federal officer.
