Jefferson: Housing Authority board chairman resigns

PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County Housing Authority Chairman Mark S. Gordon resigned his post late Tuesday while simultaneously submitting more than 120 pages of documents chronicling financial and other authority problems to county commissioners.

Gordon, a housing commissioner for five years, cited “personal, professional and health reasons” for his resignation.

He did not return calls for comment Wednesday.

Included with his letter of resignation were documents showing records of 15 checks bounced by the agency in June.

Eleven of the checks were covered by the agency’s bank; four were returned without payment.

The checks were signed by Gordon and Housing Authority Executive Director John Estes.
