PORT TOWNSEND — The state Auditor’s Office has cleared Jefferson County Commissioner Glen Huntingford of allegations that he violated vehicle mileage allowance laws by accepting mileage payments from a state clean air organization.
Acting on instruction of the Auditor’s Office on Tuesday, County Auditor Donna Eldridge requested Treasurer Judi Morris to reimburse the Chimacum Republican $4,032.58 for travel expenses he paid to the county this year.
In a written statement Tuesday, Eldridge said: “When concerns first arose over possible mispayments for travel, Glen wrote a check to Jefferson County. . . . He has now been appropriately reimbursed.”
The state auditor determined that state statutes allow the Air Pollution Control Authority to pay its members.
Huntingford, the county’s member on the Olympic Region Clean Air Agency in Olympia, said Tuesday that he was glad the matter was finally put to rest.
“It’s kind of the ongoing saga that I’m really tired of,” he said.
