Four people taken to hospitals after motorcycle hits pickup

CHIMACUM — Four people were transported to hospitals after a motorcycle crashed into a pickup on state Highway 19 near West Valley Road.

Michael Erby, 27, of Silverdale was riding a 2012 Harley-Davidson southbound on Highway 19 about 7:15 p.m. Sunday along with his passenger, Alexis Mackay, 36, of Silverdale, the State Patrol said.

The motorcycle attempted to round a curve to the left, crossed the center line and struck a 2024 Ford Maverick, which was traveling northbound on Highway 19, the State Patrol said.

Erby and Mackay both were flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, the State Patrol said. Both were in critical condition in the intensive care unit on Monday, hospital spokesperson Susan Gregg said.

Both wearing U.S. Department of Transportation-compliant helmets, the State Patrol reported.

Anna Frank, 54, of Port Townsend, the driver of the Ford Maverick, and her passenger, Kristina Dosey, 50, of Port Townsend, were not injured but transported to Jefferson Healthcare hospital, the State Patrol said.

Both Frank and Dosey were wearing seatbelts.

The motorcycle came to rest blocking both northbound and southbound lanes, while the Ford Maverick stopped in the northbound lane, the State Patrol said.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved, the agency added.

Both vehicles were totally destroyed, the State Patrol said.

Charges were pending an investigation, the agency added.
