FORKS — Washington Coast Cleanup beach cleanup volunteers in the Forks area can enjoy a show of special apparel and a film festival.
On April 24, the Friday night before the cleanup, a Trashion Show is planned at 7 p.m. at the Rainforest Arts Center at 35 N. Forks Ave.
By then, the newly constructed arts center will have celebrated a grand opening, planned from noon to 2 p.m. April 18, with a ribbon-cutting at 1 p.m.
In the free Trashion Show, which will be open to the public, trash will be used as the medium to create pieces for the runway.
Judges will award prizes in different categories.
At 7 p.m. Saturday, April 25, the Rivers and Ocean Film Festival — also free and open to the public — is planned at the arts center.
Short films from the Olympic Peninsula and beyond will highlight the beauty of the region, as well as some of the issues faced by its marine and freshwater habitats and the people who live near them.
The selected films are primarily shot in a documentary style and are family-friendly.
The films are hosted by the North Pacific Coast Marine Resources Committee, Washington Sea Grant and their partners.
