Firefighters respond to fully involved house fire near Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — Fire crews responded to a fully involved, two-story structure fire near the end of Lake Farm Road on Tuesday.

All of the occupants had evacuated the house at 131 Pristine Lane, Clallam County Fire District No. 3 Chief Ben Andrews said.

The house east of Port Angeles was fully involved in flames when crews arrived Tuesday afternoon, Andrews said. Firefighters initiated a defensive attack, he said.

Black smoke from the fire was visible for several miles in all directions.

The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office established a road block on the 600 block of Lake Farm Road to allow water tenders to safely maneuver along narrow roads. Water was being shuttled from a nearby hydrant to the scene.

There were propane tanks in the back of the residence, Andrews said.

Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue responded with heavy equipment and personnel.

Fire District No. 3 Assistant Chief Tony Hudson, the incident commander, was not immediately available for comment Tuesday evening.

Further information was not available Tuesday evening.

The paddles are among the thousands of gifts being created for participants in the 2025 Tribal Canoe Journey, hosted this year by the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe. The event begins with the landing of dozens of native canoes at the mouth of the Elwha River on July 31 and continues with five days of celebration on the Lower Elwha reservation west of Port Angeles. As many as 10,000 indigenous peoples are expected to take part. The public is invited to help with giftmaking sessions, scheduled daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Heritage Center.
