Fire in barn fouls Highway 19 traffic

PORT LUDLOW — A barn fire believed to have been started by a lawnmower this afternoon snarled traffic on state Highway 19 — Beaver Valley Road — for much of the afternoon.

Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue and other firefighters battled the fire off Highway 19 between Larson Lake and Embody roads.

A fire department spokesman said the fire apparently began when the barn owner was mowing around a tree when the tree caught fire, and the blaze spread. A passing motorist called 9-1-1.
