PORT ANGELES — Filmmakers John Gussman and Jessica Plumb will discuss their experiences creating “Return of the River,” a documentary film about the restoration of the Elwha River, at 7 p.m. today.
The talk about the “little river with a big story” will be at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
The program is a part of the library’s “River Story” exhibit and program series.
“Return of the River” is a collaboratively produced film currently in production.
Since early 2010, photographer, director and cinematographer Gussman has devoted much of his time to documenting the Elwha and Glines Canyon dam removals and the process of restoring the river to its wild state.
The Elwha Dam removal was finished in March, and crews continue to work bringing down Glines Canyon Dam upriver.
Gussman plans to continue filming this project beyond the completion of “Return of the River,” documenting the National Park Service’s $325 million Elwha River Restoration project effort until at least 2014.
Plumb is a filmmaker and writer whose work focuses on the relationship between people and the places they call home.
She is producer and chief editor of “Return of the River.”
