Government meetings across North Olympic Peninsula

The boards of local government agencies will meet next week on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will hear staff updates regarding the Dungeness Off-Channel Reservoir Project during their weekly work session Monday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

• A staff update regarding the Towne Road/Dungeness levee surfacing project.

• An agreement with the Port Angeles Waterfront Center for $300,000 in lodging tax funds for Field Arts and Events Hall.

• Several resolutions regarding budget revisions, supplemental appropriations and debatable budget emergencies.

• A resolution appointing Pamela Hicks to the Clallam Bay/Sekiu Community Action Team.

• An amended agreement with Peninsula Housing Authority regarding the manner that the previously committed $200,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds for the Ox Bow Apartments in Forks can be spent.

• A resolution to establish a revenue advisory group with junior taxing districts within the county.

• A request from the Sheriff’s Office to hire nurses to work at the jail as county employees instead of contracting for nurse support.

• An agreement with the Jefferson County Noxious Weed Control Board regarding the control of wild chervil on Jefferson County to prevent its spread into Clallam County.

• An agreement with the Department of Health for an additional $194,688 for the Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program.

• An invitation to bid for the Public Works crush contract; bids are due not later that 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 5.

• A staff briefing on the selection process for federal surface transportation block grants.

• A request for qualifications for engineering services for the section of the Olympic Discovery Trail that crosses the Calawah River in Forks; statements are due not later than 3 p.m. Friday, March 29.

• A weekly legislative update.

• A request from the North Olympic Library System for $6,000 to fund its poet laureate for a second year.

• An agreement with the Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau for $800,000 in lodging tax funds to promote year-round tourism in Clallam County.

• An agreement with the Office of the Secretary of State regarding the sharing of category 3 data through the VoteWA system; category 3 information is protected from public disclosure.

• An agreement with Axon Enterprises, Inc. for $168,855 to provide its Justice Premier software for five years.

• A purchase order for $50,454 to obtain five APX 6500 radios from Motorola Solutions for the Sheriff’s Office.

• A landowner acknowledgment form from Deborah Kucipeck in support of a grant application by the North Olympic Salmon Coalition for a county road culvert replacement at milepost 3.1 on Hoko-Ozette Road.

• A monthly review of budget execution.

• A letter of support for a 2024 RAISE grant for the city of Port Angeles’ Mobility Planning: Safe and Effective Movement for Freight and People.

• An agreement with the Marine Resource Committee and the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe for $96,650 to enhance substrate in Sequim Bay to expand Olympia oyster populations.

• A personal services agreement with the Clallam County Economic Development Council for $126,690.

• Opening of proposals to provide engineering, architectural and other professional services.

• An ordinance regarding placement permits for recreational park trailers.

• A public hearing regarding proposed changes to fairgrounds fees.

Collaborative group

The Intergovernmental Collaborative Group will meet jointly with the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners at 5 p.m. Thursday.

The agenda items include a presentation regarding the proposed growth management steering committee, and update regarding the RECOMPETE grant and an update regarding county-wide emergency management.

The group is composed of members of four entities: Jefferson County Commission, Port Townsend City Council, the Port of Port Townsend and Jefferson County Public Utility District.
