EYE ON THE PENINSULA: Clallam commissioners to discuss coroner services

Meetings across the North Olympic Peninsula.

Coroner services, utility rates and school policy will be before Peninsula boards and commissions this week.

Clallam County Commissioners

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider hiring a special counsel to develop and implement the provision of coroner services during their weekly work session on Monday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which will start at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The commissioners also will conduct 2025 budget meetings with the county administrator, chief finance officer, deputy CFO, budget coordinator and various department heads on Thursday and Friday.

• An agreement with Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe for drought-related outreach.

• An amended agreement with Olympic Peninsula Community Clinic for support of the county’s respite care pilot project.

• Agreement with the Washington Traffic Safety Commission for reimbursement of overtime spent on emphasis patrols in support of statewide programs.

• Agreement with Peninsula College establishing the county jail as a training site for the college’s nursing program.

• Pre-application questionnaire for a $12,398,560 grant from the state Department of Ecology for a water quality combined funding program.

• Land purchase agreement with Ronald Konopaski for $1,744 for an easement for the Middle Point pump station.

• A call for public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 12 regarding the six-year 2025-2030 transportation improvement program.

• An agreement with the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the Recompete Program.

• An update on the Clallam Conservation District from Ken Williams.

• An agreement with Children’s Home Society of Washington for $64,175 to operate the Parents for Parents program.

• An amended agreement with Anchor QEA, LLC for trash removal at the Dungeness off-channel reservoir project site.

• An agreement with the state Department of Agriculture for a grant to provide locally produced food for local food banks.

• A resolution authorizing expenditure from the hotel/motel tax fund for approved 2024 lodging tax funding applications.
