Government meetings across the North Olympic Peninsula

The boards of local government agencies will meet next week on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will review the draft five-year capital plan during their weekly work session at 9 a.m. Monday.

The commissioners’ work session will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

• A request to waive the three-bid requirement for heat pumps in the Harm Reduction Health Center.

• An amended agreement with the Department of Health to add an additional $405,747 in funding to Heath and Human Services for Foundational Public Health Services, $371,073; a Maternal and Child Health Block Grant, $24,976; immunizations, $6,160; and the WIC nutrition program, $3,598.

• A call for a public hearing on Tuesday, Nov. 7 regarding the proposed six-year transportation improvement plan.

• Opening of bids for the Lake Pleasant boat launch piling replacement project.

• Opening of proposals for the provision of substance use, mental health, and related services throughout the county.

• A call for a public hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 17 regarding proposed changes to the noxious weed ordinance and assessment rates.

The three Jefferson County commissioners will conduct a workshop to finalize the Strategic Plan when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

The commissioners also will conduct departmental budget planning workshops at 10 a.m. Wednesday and at 9 a.m. Thursday.

The commissioners will hear an update on public health and emergency management from Dr. Allison Berry and Anna Piasecki, conduct a public hearing regarding third quarter supplemental budget appropriations, hear a briefing and possibly take action on housing infrastructure grants, conduct a workshop regarding priorities for the communications program update and conduct a workshop regarding authorization and concurrence for the Piehl property on the Big Quilcene River floodplain.

Items on the consent agenda include a letter of support for the Department of Commerce comprehensive plan periodic update grant, a change order for the Port Hadlock sewer project and a motion to approve the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee’s 2024 hotel/motel funding recommendations.

The Washington State Association of Counties will hear a weekly update on COVID-19 when they meet at noon Monday.

Both Clallam and Jefferson counties will participate.

Clallam planning commission

The Clallam County Planning Commission will hear a presentation regarding the six-year transporation improvement plan when they meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The Port Angeles City Council will open a public hearing on a fee schedule during its meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The hearing on the ordinance adopting new permit, fire and cemetery fees will be continued to Oct. 17.

The council also will consider submitting the draft Wastewater Comprehensive Plan to the state Department of Ecology for review.
