EYE ON CLALLAM: County will mull approval of budget for 2016 during Tuesday meeting

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider adopting a 2016 budget Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Two public hearings were held on the final draft budget last Tuesday.

Other agenda items for this week’s business meeting include:

■   A contract amendment with Prevention Works! extending the end date and adding funding.

■   A change order with Interwest Construction for the Clallam County Courthouse low-impact development retrofit to reduce the project cost.

■   Acknowledgement of proposals received for chemical dependency, mental health and co-occurring disorder services.

■   A request for qualifications for architecture and engineering consulting services in the parks, fair and facilities department.

■   A resolution correcting terms for members of the Marine Resources Committee.

■   A resolution appointing a member to the Planning Commission.

■   Resolutions adopting a budget revision, supplemental appropriations, budget reductions, authorizing action on current use assessment applications and on establishing a government equipment rental schedule for 2016.

■   Release of a dike easement.

■   A public hearing for consideration of debatable budget emergencies.

■   A public hearing on a proposed ordinance authorizing a rezone for the parks, fair and facilities department.

Commissioners will conduct their weekly work session at 9 a.m. Monday.

Agenda items include an administrator’s analysis and recommendation for indigent defense services and an update on electric car charging stations as part of the low-impact development retrofit project at the courthouse.

Clallam PUD

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will hear a staff update on the district’s major engineering projects for 2015.

The work session will begin at 1:30 p.m. and will be held in the Lake Crescent Boardroom at the new main office, located at 104 Hooker Road in Carlsborg.

Port Angeles schools

The Port Angeles School Board will seat two incoming members and discuss the process for appointing a third member when it meets Thursday.

The board will meet at 7 p.m. at the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center, 905 W. Ninth St.

Before the meeting will be a reception for outgoing board members from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The board must appoint one member because Rick Marti, who defeated incumbent Lonnie Linn in the Nov. 3 general election, has resigned.

Quillayute Valley schools

The Quillayute Valley School Board will consider appointing a new board member when it meets Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 6 p.m. in the library/media center of Forks High School, 261 S. Spartan Ave.

The board also will hear about a hearing planned at 5 p.m. Dec. 15 on the Spartan Field and stadium replacement ­project.

Sequim School Board

The Sequim School Board will elect a new president and vice president Monday.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the district boardroom at 503 N. Sequim Ave.

Other items on Monday’s agenda include discussion of the failed $49.3 million school construction bond, reports on school policies and improvement plans, and consideration of a contract for services between the district and Family Healing Center Corp.

The board also announced that a quorum may attend a meeting with the Sequim High School Leadership Class at 7 a.m. Thursday at the high school library, 601 N. Sequim Ave.

Clallam Conservation District

Clallam Conservation District commissioners will discuss a draft 2016 annual plan-of-work review, an engineering cluster agreement and cooperator and cost-share agreements when they meet Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. in Suite H at Armory Square, 228 W. First St., Port Angeles.

The commission also will set the date, time and place of the 2016 election and appoint an election supervisor.

Utility advisory ­committee

Port Angeles Utility Advisory Committee members will discuss a 2015 hydroelectric services feasibility study when they meet Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 3 p.m. in the Jack Pittis Conference Room at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

Committee members also will discuss amendments to the landfill bluff stabilization construction management agreement and the combined sewer overflow Phase 2 construction management services agreement.
