Clallam County commissioners will discuss fireworks regulations at 9 a.m. Monday.
The work session will be in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Questions to be discussed include what dates should consumer fireworks be allowed, should the West End have additional days for fireworks and should neighborhoods be allowed to enact additional restrictions on fireworks, according to an executive summary.
Other discussion items for the work session include:
• A call for bids for the Clallam County Courthouse and Third Street building signage improvement project.
• A contact amendment with the state Department of Health for foundational public health services, public health emergency preparedness and maternal child health programs.
• A contract with the Port Angeles School District to provide mental health support services.
• A resolution establishing a government equipment rental schedule for 2020.
• A contract amendment with Shannon & Wilson, Inc. for the Lower Dungeness floodplain restoration project.
• An update on the Carlsborg deep well project.
• A call for hearing on proposed changes to county policy for Board of County Commissioners operating guidelines.
• A resolution authorizing expenditures from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund for approved 2019 lodging tax funding applications.
• A resolution appointing Roy Hellwig to the Building Code Board of Appeals.
• A resolution appointing Deborah Landes to the Port Crescent Pioneer Cemetery Advisory Board.
• Behavioral health legislative support letters.
• Legislative priorities.
Commissioners will conduct their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Action items include:
• A proclamation recognizing October as Disability Employment Awareness Month.
• A proclamation recognizing Resilience Awareness Month in Clallam County.
• An agreement with the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe for sewer transmission and road cost share for the Dry Creek Road reconstruction project.
• An agreement with the state Department of Ecology for funding operations and projects related to the Northwest Straits grant.
• An agreement with the state Traffic Safety Commission to renew reimbursement funding to support the Clallam 24/7 sobriety program.
• An interlocal agreement with cities of Port Townsend and Sequim, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, State Patrol, U.S. Border Patrol, National Park Service and Homeland Security Investigations for the operation of the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team.
• A resolution establishing right-of-way acquisition procedures and appointing staff responsible for various elements of the acquisition process.
A closed executive session will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday for the board to discuss pending litigation with the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Olympic Medical Center
Olympic Medical Center commissioners will hear updates on the Sequim cancer center when they meet in Sequim at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Commissioners will meet in the upstairs conference room at the Sequim Medical Services Building, 840 N. Fifth Ave.
Also on the agenda is an Olympic Medical Physicians employment agreement and an update on security, privacy and compliance.
Port Angeles city
The Port Angeles City Council will conduct a first reading on 2020 electric, water, wastewater, solid waste, stormwater and Medic 1 rates Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in the City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.
The hearing on proposed utility rates will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Council action on utility rates is expected after a second reading of the ordinances Oct. 15.
Other agenda items for the Tuesday meeting include:
• A think tank on council participation on boards, committees and commissions and the process for adding late items to council agendas.
• Recognition of Indigenous Peoples Month.
• A proclamation recognizing Resiliency Month.

Planning commission
The Clallam County Planning Commission will hear an overview of mineral resource lands workshops Wednesday.
The work session will begin at 6 p.m. in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.
Other agenda items include an overview of the state Open Public Meetings Act.
Fire District 3
Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will consider ratifying their maintenance collective bargaining agreement when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The meeting will be at station headquarters, 323 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.
The district covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County.
Commissioners also will hear a proposed amendment for the fire district’s 2019 budget and consider the resignation of its volunteer and training coordinator.
They also will have an agenda item on filling the district’s fire code technician position.
