Both Port Angeles and Sequim’s annual Back to School Fairs have been re-engineered in light of COVID-19.
Both will be “drive-through” events, with volunteers handing out grade-appropriate pre-packaged supply parcels to families without their having to leave their cars.
Volunteers ask that drivers and passengers wear masks.
The 12th annual Port Angeles Back to School Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Lincoln Center, 905 W. Ninth St.
The eighth annual Sequim Back to School Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Sequim unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula at 400 W. Fir St.
In Sequim, volunteers will be on site to guide families from the Sequim High School stadium parking lot on West Fir Street to the pick-up site.
Families with students at Greywolf Elementary may drive through anytime between 10 a.m. and noon, while families with students at Helen Haller Elementary may drive through between noon and 2 p.m. Families with students at Sequim Middle School, Sequim High School and Olympic Peninsula Academy may drive through anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
