Collision injures two teenagers

BLYN — Two teenagers were injured, including one who needed to be hospitalized, in a collision on U.S. Highway 101.

John Anderson, 65, of Sequim, the driver of a Ford pickup carrying a trailer, was traveling east on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 101 about noon Thursday and tried to make a left turn north onto Old Blyn Road, according to a State Patrol report.

His vehicle was struck on the driver’s side door by an eastbound Toyota Tacoma that was driven by a 16-year-old Port Angeles girl. That girl was treated and released for minor injuries.

Her passenger, Darienlyn Woodward, 18, of Sequim, also was injured and was taken to Olympic Medical Center for her injuries. Her condition was unavailable Sunday.

Woodward was not wearing a seat belt, according to the State Patrol. The Tacoma was listed as totaled in the report.

Anderson was not injured. There were three passengers in Anderson’s vehicle, a 42-year-old Sequim woman, a 20-year-old Sequim man and an 18-year-old Sequim woman, all of whom were listed as uninjured.

Anderson was cited by the State Patrol for failure to yield. The 16-year-old driver of the Toyota Tacoma was cited for distracted driving.
