PORT ANGELES — Clallam County is seeking volunteers to serve on advisory boards as unpaid members.
Applications are due by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15.

Here are the boards and the positions open on them:
• Agricultural Commission — Two three-year positions are open on this board, which researches agricultural issues and provides information to the county commissioners.
The positions for a farmer in District 3 and a nonfarmer at-large are open.
• Animal Issues Advisory Committee — Two three-year positions are open on this panel, which serves as a liaison between the county commissioners and the county’s contractor for animal shelter services.
The positions for an equine expert and an at-large representative are open.
• Board of Health — One three-year position is open for this board that deals with public health issues.
The at-large position is open.
• Boundary Review Board — Two four-year positions are open on this autonomous board.
The board, upon request by any jurisdiction affected by a boundary change such as an annexation proposal, reviews the proposal and has broad powers to determine logical boundaries and transfer of services.
The special districts and governor-appointee positions are open.
• Carlsborg Community Advisory Council — Four three-year positions are open on this board, which acts as a liaison between residents of the Carlsborg Urban Growth Area and the county commissioners.
Open positions are for a resident of the Parkwood manufactured home community; a resident within the UGA boundary exclusive of Parkwood; a business of real property owner within the Carlsborg Industrial Zone; and a business or real property owner within the Carlsborg Village Center.
• Chemical Dependency/Mental Health Program Fund Advisory Board — Four three-year positions are open on this board, which advises the county commissioners on matters related to a one-tenth of 1 percent sales tax for mental health services.
Positions are open for a designated representative of an agency delivering subsidized mental health services, a private provider of mental health services, a private provider of chemical dependency services and a consumer or past consumer of chemical dependency/mental health services.
• Clallam Bay-Sekiu Sewer Advisory Committee — One two-year position is open for this committee, which is responsible for advising the county commissioners on matters related to the Clallam Bay-Sekiu sewer operations, rates and billing procedures.
• Crescent Community Advisory Council — Three three-year positions are open on this panel, which acts as a liaison between Crescent School District residents and the county commissioners.
Positions are open for a Crescent School District student representative, a Crescent School District alternate student representative and an area business owner.
• Developmental Disabilities Advisory Committee — Six three-year positions are open for this board, which advises the county commissioners and the Department of Health and Human Services on programs and services for people with mental disabilities, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, other neurological impairments or developmental disabilities and their families.
• Fair Advisory Board — Two four-year positions are open on this advisory board to the county commissioners, which focuses on the Clallam County Fair and the fairgrounds.
• Heritage Advisory Board — One four-year position is open on this board, which advises the county commissioners on matters related to the preservation of the county’s cultural heritage.
The opening is for a resident of District 3.
• Homelessness Task Force — Five three-year positions are open on this advisory board.
There are two openings for representatives of the business community and three openings for homeless or formerly homeless people.
• Hotel-Motel Tax Advisory Committee — Two three-year positions are open on this board, which reviews proposed changes to expenditures from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund and makes recommendations to the county commissioners.
Positions for a collector of the tax and a potential user of the fund are open.
• Marine Resource Committee — Two four-year positions are open.
The committee advises the county commissioners on issues related to the Strait of Juan de Fuca and its bays, estuaries and inlets within the borders of Clallam County.
Positions for a representative of the academic community and of District 3 are open.
• North Olympic Library System Board of Trustees — One five-year position is open on this board, which oversees the system that runs the Port Angeles, Sequim, Clallam Bay and Forks public libraries.
• Opportunity Fund Board — Three three-year positions are open.
Funds from the Opportunity Fund Program, which is funded by sales tax, are used to improve the county economy through attracting businesses with grants and low-interest loans for public facilities.
Decisions regarding the use of the funds for public facility projects are made by the Opportunity Fund Board, which is responsible for making recommendations to the Board of Clallam County Commissioners and which has the final authority to approve or deny an application.
Selection to the board is based upon significant experience in one or more of the following at a senior management or supervisory level: business finance or banking, regional economic planning, business recruitment and retention, industrial or manufacturing business management and civil engineering for a three-year term.
Positions are available for residents of all three county districts.
• Park and Recreation Advisory Board — One six-year position is open.
The board holds public meetings as necessary and advises county personnel in developing regulations for county parks and other recreational facilities; it also reviews park acquisitions and development strategies.
• Permit Advisory Board — Five two-year positions are open on this board, which recommends changes to building code.
Positions are available for a representative of the Manufactured Homes/Mobile Home Association, a certified septic designer and installer, a structural and civil engineer, an environmental consultant and a propane and woodstove contractor.
• Planning Commission — Five four-year positions are open on this nine-member advisory board, which assists county commissioners through the Department of Community Development.
The commission reviews land-use policy.
There are one District 1, two District 2 and two District 3 positions open.
• Public Health Advisory Committee — Seven three-year positions are open on this advisory committee, which makes recommendations to the Board of Health and the Department of Health and Human Services.
