Students will begin to trickle back to Clallam County schools Monday, the start of three weeks of pre-season athletic workouts, band camps, school registration, school portraits and school supply give-aways for the 2013-14 school year.
Statewide, football practice begins Aug. 21, and fall sports practice begins Aug. 26.
Port Angeles
Port Angeles School District classes begin Sept. 3.
Port Angeles individual school offices will open for the 2013-14 school year Wednesday, as administrative staff return from summer break.
Registrations for the new full-day kindergartens, to be offered at all five district elementary schools, and new student registrations for families who moved to the district over the summer, will be available at individual school offices, or at the Central Services Building.
Back-to-school events will kick off today, with band camp for new and returning band members will be held
8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Wednesday, at the high school music room.
Port Angeles High School students will receive class schedules, get school IDs and locker assignments, pay fees, purchase spirit gear and school portraits, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 19-23, at the student commons.
Seniors will register on Aug. 19, juniors on Aug. 20, sophomores on Aug. 21, and freshmen on Aug. 22. New student and make-up registrations will be held Aug. 23.
A back-to-school event and barbecue sponsored by the district and local service organizations will provide supplies and services for families in need from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 24, at Jefferson Elementary, 218 E. 12th St.
The event, including haircuts, school supplies and access to community services resources, is free to families of students in kindergarten through the 12th grade.
Immunizations required for school attendance will be offered by Clallam County Health & Human Services for $12 per immunization.
Medicaid can be billed for vaccinations.
Staff from the SmileMobile, a mobile dental clinic, will be making appointments for checkups and treatments for a clinic to be held Sept. 9-21.
Cash donations and school supplies still are being collected for distribution at the event at area banks and the Port Angeles School District Central Services, 216 Fourth St.
School bus routes will not be sent to individual homes this year.

Sequim
Sequim School District classes begin Sept. 4.
Sequim High School’s office re-opens Monday, Sequim Middle School office on Thursday, Helen Haller Elementary office on Aug. 21 and Greywolf Elementary office opens Aug. 22 for new registrations.
Sequim High Wolfpack Days registration event will be held 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., 12 to 3 p.m., Thursday and Friday.
New students may register from 9 a.m. to noon, and 1 to 3 p.m., beginning Monday, and a new student orientation will be held at 9 a.m. Aug. 21 in the high school library.
Sequim High freshman orientation well be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sept. 3.
The high school band camp will be held 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 29, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 30.
Freshmen musicians should arrive at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 29 for orientation.
Sequim Middle School Timberwolf Days registration event will be held 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., on Aug. 19 for students with last names beginning with A through K, and on Aug. 20 for students with names beginning with L through Z.
“For convenience, families can come anytime between 2:30 and 6:30 p.m. It is not necessary to be there right when the doors open at 2:30 p.m. Come later and avoid the long lines,” said Assistant Principal Scott Harker.
Students will receive class schedules, get school IDs and locker assignments, can pay fees and turn in athletic registrations, and purchase P.E. uniforms and school portraits.
Sequim Middle sixth-grade WEB orientation will be held from 7:50 a.m. to noon Sept. 3.
Sports physicals are available for $20 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., August 17 at the Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St.
The deadline for fall sports forms to be turned in at the high school office is Aug. 20.
New student orientation, for students new to the area, will be at 9 a.m. Aug. 21 in the high school library.
The Dungeness Kids Fair will offer back-to-school services and supplies, games, and activities for children 18 and younger, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Boys and Girls Club in Sequim.
The Health Department will offer $12 immunizations.
Helen Haller and Greywolf elementary schools will host open houses from 4 – 6 p.m.
“It’s a great chance for kids to come in and meet their teachers and find out where their classrooms are located. At the same time, teachers can begin to get to know their new families,” said Jennifer Lopez, a fourth grade teacher at Greywolf.
Quillayute Valley
Quillayute Valley School District classes begin Sept. 5.
New student registration will be held daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 19 at the district office, 411 S. Spartan Ave.
Class schedules will be mailed to student homes, said Superintendent Diana Reaume.
Cape Flattery
Cape Flattery School District classes begin Sept. 4.
Neah Bay Junior/Senior High School upperclassmen will register Aug. 27-28, at the school at 3560 Deer St.
Seniors will register from 9 a.m., to noon, and juniors from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Aug. 27.
Sophomores will register from 9 a.m., to noon, and juniors from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Aug. 28.
Junior high registration for all students will be from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 29.
On Aug. 3, a back to school night will welcome students and parents for the new school year.
Clallam Bay School office opens Monday with new Principal Mark Herndon, and several new staff members.
High school students can pick up schedules from 9 a.m. to noon Monday and Tuesday.
“The elementary and middle school students will get their schedules as they walk through the door,” Herndon said.
Crescent
Crescent School District classes begin Sept. 3.
New students to the district can register at any time after district offices open Aug. 19, at 50350 Washington 112 in Joyce.
The small district keeps it simple, with students receiving their class assignments on the first day of school, said Clayton Mork, Crescent superintendent.
Crescent High School freshman orientation and barbecue will be held Aug. 29, at 5 p.m.
