JOYCE — The Washington State University Extension’s Regional Small Farms Program will host the “Blueberry Pruning Workshop” on Saturday, Feb. 22.
According to a press release, the workshop is geared toward commercial blueberry farming, but gardeners are welcome to attend, as well.
The workshop includes a classroom presentation from noon to 3 p.m. at the Crescent Grange Hall, 50724 state Highway 112.
The didactic portion will be presented by master gardeners Jeanette Stehr-Green and Audreen Williams.
After the classroom portion, Gary Heaton will lead a hands-on exercise at Blueberry Haven Farm, 173 Lewallen Road.
Workshop participants will learn basic blueberry pruning principles and techniques for optimal fruit production and growth patterns of blueberry canes.
Participants are encouraged to bring sanitized hand pruners or pruning loppers and will have hands-on pruning opportunities at Blueberry Haven Farm.
