Arraignment reset in Port Angeles chase case

PORT ANGELES — An arraignment hearing for a Port Angeles man captured Tuesday in a foot chase and multi-agency search was postponed Friday.
Ordez Eugene Kompkoff, 20, instead will be arraigned at 9 a.m. Friday.
He remained in the Clallam County jail Saturday on $75,500 bail.
Kompkoff’s appointed attorney, Karen Unger of Port Angeles, told the court her client was not well and was detoxing, according to court records.
Kompkoff, who is described as a transient, was charged March 26 with aggravated residential burglary, first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful imprisonment and third-degree escape.
Port Angeles police had sought Kompkoff after a reported drive-by shooting on Orcas Avenue on March 18 and a home invasion on East Ninth Street on March 21.
Police pursued him March 21, but he fled.
Kompkoff was tracked Tuesday to a West Ninth Street residence by Port Angeles police dog Jag and his handler, Cpl. Kevin Miller. He was arrested just before 2 p.m.
The State Patrol, Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Border Patrol, Office of Air and Marine, and Elwha police assisted in the search, police said.
The chase caused a two-hour modified lockdown of Lincoln High, Stevens Middle and Hamilton Elementary schools and the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center.
