The Albert Haller Foundation has bestowed a total of $98,500 in scholarships to 13 graduating high school seniors in Clallam County.
Five graduates-to-be from Sequim and Port Angeles, along with one from Crescent and one from Forks, received $8,000 each.
Also awarded was a $2,500 George Peabody Scholarship funded by Lakeside Industries and administered by the foundation.
In keeping with Haller’s wishes that scholarships be awarded to those most in need, the foundation’s scholarship committee selected recipients not based on highest grade-point average and achievement but those deemed to be “putting forth good effort and in need of a helping hand,” foundation representatives said last week.
Scholarship recipients are:
• Sequim — Samantha Church, Kyle Desumma, Zen Graham, Abbee Jaegger, Kimberly Perez.
• Port Angeles — Areeb Atlaf, Fiona Coleman, Addison Holland, Jacob Thrush, Alexus Yeater.
• Crescent — Caleb Green.
• Forks — Marty Vasquez.
• George Peabody Scholarship — Patrick Tennesson (Sequim).
