PORT ANGELES — Power was restored to the West End at about 11:40 a.m. Tuesday after more than 5,000 customers were without it for several hours.
The outage on the West End was on Bonneville Power Administration’s Shappo Radial line, according to Nicole Hartman, communications manager with Clallam County Public Utility District No. 1, after heavy wind storms brought tree branches down on the line.
“They found a tree in the line and attempted to reenergize but it didn’t hold so they are now patrolling the line again searching for another fault,” Hartman said in an email Tuesday morning. “Our crews are assisting by patrolling from the other end. We will not have an ETA for restoration until they find the fault.”
According to the PUD’s outage map, 5,371 customers across the West End were without power Tuesday morning.
At 11:38 a.m., Clallam PUD posted that all power had been restored.
“BPA has been re-energized,” the utility said in an update. “All West End customers should be back in power at this time. A total of (three) trees were found in the line last night and today.”
Strong winds overnight also brought down power lines in Jefferson County, where 2,100 customers were without power for a time. Jameson Hawn, digital communications specialist with Jefferson County PUD No. 1, said power was restored to all customers as by 2:20 a.m. Tuesday.
“The actual cause was branches across multiple phases of line,” Hawn said.
