WEEKEND: Port Ludlow hosts Festival by the Bay

PORT LUDLOW — This small waterside town is welcoming visitors this weekend when the Festival by the Bay offers three days of music, vendors, fireworks, art and family activities.

“This festival provides three days of fun for everyone,” said Port Ludlow Festival Association Secretary Linda Karp.

All the activities will be in the area surrounding the Port Ludlow Beach Club at 121 Marina View Drive.

Festival activities take place from noon to 8 p.m. today, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

It includes a market with 80 vendors, an art show and sale at the Harbormaster Gallery, vehicle displays in the Beach Club parking lot and a food court, as well as Coast Guard and Port Ludlow Fire and Rescue demonstrations and a Navy fly-over.

A $5 admission button will be good for all three days.

Proceeds go to Olympic Community Action Programs and Chimacum Schools.

“Last year, we were able to raise $2,000 for each, and we hope to exceed that number this year,” Karp said.

Karp said last year’s festival drew about 3,000 people.

Bands will perform tonight and Saturday night as well as in a Sunday afternoon show.

Freddie Pink will play from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday on the lower stage.

His performance will be followed by a fireworks display.

The Soul Siren Band from Kitsap County will perform today on the lower stage from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. while Ranger and the Rearrangers will play on the upper stage Sunday.

The Port Ludlow Racquet Club will sponsor tennis competitions all three days at all tennis courts. For more information, email deannaerichards@gmail.com.
