Elks Lodge makes donation

Port Townsend Elks Lodge #317 recently donated $3,000 to support the Northwestern School of Wooden Boatbuilding’s veterans’ supportive campus program.

The program sponsors quarterly events for veterans, creates programs at the school for Veterans Day and Memorial Day, connects veterans with services they have earned and has developed a Veteran Student Resource Center.

“Coming from outside Port Townsend, I’m amazed at how close knit the Port Townsend, Port Hadlock and Chimacum communities are in recognizing and supporting veterans. I really appreciate the Elks Club stepping forward with this support,” said Cliff Barcelo, a student in the school’s Marine Systems program.
