Animal blessings to be offered at Trinity United Methodist

SEQUIM — A blessing of the animals service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The service will be outside Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave.

The Rev. Desi Larson, assisted by the Trinity musicians, will lead the service.

Pets on a leash or in a carrier are welcome. Each will receive a St. Francis blessing medallion.

For animals that have died, a picture may be shown or the pet’s name mentioned, and a prayer of remembrance will be offered.

Blessing animals was introduced by St. Francis of Assisi to illustrate that humans are only one of the many creations of God and that all are blessed in God’s eyes.
