LETTER:Tree planting

Recently Nathan West, the Port Angeles city manager, advanced an idea about initiating programs that would improve the entrance to the city.

For some time there have been discussions about this, emphasizing the planting of ornamental deciduous trees with different flowering seasons.

This could occur on the eastern entrance where few trees are present all the way to Lincoln Street.

To stimulate this idea, citizens could donate to the project.

Ours is one of the most beautiful cities in the western states with its view of the Olympic Mountains and the downtown harbor.

This project would take years, of course, but would eventually be worth the effort.
