Sen. Kevin Van De Wege voted “No” on Substitute Senate Bill 1240, the “Assault Weapons” ban, because he understands that criminals pay no attention to our laws and that further regulations would only apply to law-abiding citizens.
If the Second Amendment remains intact, even those who are too timid to stand in harm’s way are protected, because criminals will never know what awaits them on the other side of their victims’ doors.
I have never expected much from Rep. Steve Tharinger, but I was surprised to see that Rep. Mike Chapman has fallen from statesman to politician.
Van De Wege appears to be the lone remaining statesman in our state delegation.
